♦ Anat. Saillie à la partie interne (du côté cubital) de la paume de la main, que forment les muscles courts du petit doigt (⇒ thénar).

● hypothénar adjectif invariable (grec hupothenar, creux de la main) Saillie située à la partie interne de la paume de la main, contenant les muscles qui assurent la motricité de l'auriculaire.

ANAT. Éminence hypothénar. Saillie formée à la partie interne de la paume de la main par les trois muscles courts moteurs du petit doigt. Rappelons que le nerf cubital (...) innerve la peau située au tiers interne du dos de la main ainsi que la face palmaire de l'auriculaire et la région de l'éminence hypothénar (QUILLET Méd. 1965, p. 368).
